Hey Everybody,

I just wanted to drop a line and give encouragement and congratulations to everyone competing this weekend. Whether it be at the Rimrock Ruckus here in Billings or at the Oregon CrossFit Best of the West Competition in Bend Oregon. I just wanted to say that it's amazing that you're all uncomfortable being comfortable. What I mean to say is that it's awesome to see your desire to push yourself into something uncomfortable. Not only for the purpose of knowing that you're alive and this weekend is fun for you, but also for the purpose of growing. You will encounter situations this weekend where you will be tested. That sometimes all too familiar voice is going to creep into the back of your head saying “You can’t do this!” Push through that! Don’t listen to that voice, Believe in yourself! You will push through and learn more about yourself as a person when you do. You will grow and become better.

I want everyone in the gym to know that we all contain a quality that is unique. Unique from the vast majority of the people walking this earth. That quality is the authentic desire to be better. We are not ok with being the exact same person we were at this time last year. We desire to grow as a person, to get better. Now while this desire is great, it is ineffective if left unaccompanied. It needs to be accompanied by a solid plan of action. This plan of action starts with goal setting. Real, Observable, and Measureable goals. So just a heads up!!! We will be having a fall fitness challenge mid to late September with goal setting included as a major part of the challenge. So….start dreaming now. What do you want your life to look like this year? What do you want to achieve? Get excited!!

I will end with this, I took part in a discussion once regarding the qualities that make up a great coach. One really stuck out in my mind. A great coach was someone who believes in the athlete more than the athlete believes in themself. I want to say that I am humbled daily when I see what you guys are achieving and what you are capable of achieving. I want to sincerely thank you guys for showing me what is possible.

Now remember a couple of things. The athlete is always greater than the outcome and…. PICK UP THE BAR!!!
