Coco's CrossFit Story

My story starts with Gome(my husband) and I moving to Billings in 2003! We were engaged and started our new life together in Billings and got married in 2004! We had our two children Paisley (11) and Krew (9) shortly after! Gome took an outside sales position right after Krew was born and was on the road every week! I worked at Nail-issimo at the time and had loved every minute of it! I cut my hours down to three days a week because I was on my own during the week since Gome started traveling with his job! As the years went on and our kids got more involved athletically I went down to 1 day a week and then a few years later ended up staying home for couple of years and it allowed me to not miss anything of the kids'. Now I'm an office manager for a few different small companies and have school hours for a work schedule so works out perfect! Paisley is very active in Crossfit, Basketball, and Volleyball! Krew is involved with Football, Basketball, Baseball, and working on getting him back into Crossfit! Needless to say our kids are our life right now and love watching them grow in every aspect of their lives! They are so fun to watch!
I heard about crossfit through the girls at the salon! I had just had Krew and was not feeling good about myself and thought I would give it a try! At that time Yurii had small groups in his dad's garage! Sometimes you even had to sign up for classes! I got to witness Kerry Hanson's first underhand grip pull -up!
My first day of crossfit mmmm.....let's just say I had tons of mixed emotions! I remember not even being able to do push ups and always thinking wow this guy is a perfectionist and I was very intimated. As everybody and Yurii recall I had left a few times crying because I felt as though I let Yurii down and really wanted to get better and I usually had not struggled with movements growing up so it got tough for me, but I kept coming back and giving it my all, even though he didn't think I would! I struggled big time! As time went on I started to love it! I wanted to live a heather lifestyle and just be a good example for our kids. I played volleyball, basketball and was a cheerleader in high school and Crossfit had me feeling that all over again!

I love Crossfit because it makes me mentally and physically stronger! No matter what we do in class you feel as though you conquered something! If anybody knows me at all, I don't believe in myself at all and sometimes after a workout you think wow...we just did that! I need that coach in my ear, most of the time-depends on what day it is! Lol!
My favorite thing about Crossfit is feeling like somewhat of an athlete again! I'm just a mom trying to stay in great shape and be a good example! All I want for my kids is to have a healthier lifestyle and know that Crossfit is a lifetime sport! I do it to take care of myself and have that 1 hour be about myself! I look at my coaches and really respect the heck out of them and appreciate what they have done for me and our kids so much! I would not be doing the things I'm doing today without them always supporting me and wanting me to come back for more! With me being home with my kids and Gome on the road so much for work I felt really alone with no family here, and the gym became my family away from family!
