Chad's Story

It’s amazing to think that something as simple as exercising can encompass so much. Community, pain success, failure, and passion have become staples in what used to be a mundane activity where I pretended to move weights at a semi regular basis. In college I was able to have that community and competition through football, but after a few knee injuries, I was unable to compete. I kept going to the gym but lost that competitive drive that was so fun in football. After finding powerlifting and training for a couple years, I came to realize that squatting for sets of 5 wasn’t cardio, and if I didn’t want to cough up a lung every time I ran 50ft, CrossFit was the answer.

When I moved to Billings for grad school, I was worried I would have a hard time finding a box. Trying to find a gym that fits can be tough, but once I came into CrossFit Billings, I knew I had found one. Josh, Yuri, Mack, Tate, Quincy and many others made me feel like I had found a family here in Billings… especially after a few workouts that left most of my body water on the floor, like one of those first WODs where I nearly died trying to keep up with Nolan. Between Bingo nights, early morning bible study, and a couple Saturday nights beers, I’ve found people that make Billings feel like home. With my first year of CrossFit over, I know my next will be even more rewarding and challenging thanks to everyone at CrossFit Billings.
